A good turnout for the September meeting. Ben Peterson called it to order.
The program was all about Steve Mark's recent video production, "Hoppy."

The challenge would be to get the video and Powerpoint Presentation up on the screen, via Chris and Shari's built-in video projection system.

Steve Mark and Wayne Krefting, hereafter called "the Two Guys on the Couch," worked on making that happen.
While that was in process, we moved to Show and Tell. The main item was a box of books given to the guild by the sons of Jean Jeffers, who was a long-time and very active member of the guild from about 1950 to the early '90s.
There were some real treasures, including a mint-condition copy of the famous Fettig book.
The Two Guys on the Couch got the technical challenges worked out.

Lights please.

We first saw the video, which was less than two minutes, so we watched it again.

A long dolly shot, down the length of a bar, left to right. We see a number of characters at the bar, until we come to the bunny at the end, who has the only speaking role, to declare he likes his drinks "hoppy."

And then into the Powerpoint to document how the video came together.
It started with Steve's concept drawings...
and then designs for all the characters at the bar.
Sincy Hoppy had the only speaking role, he had the only moving mouth. This is the jaw mechanism.
A view of the many kinds of materials used to build the puppets.

Steve did a very good job documenting his work.

Grouchy character in process.
Steve describes how the camera moved down the line of puppet characters.
Then showed us the actual puppets.

This is Hoppy.

A few production shots from the afternoon of the video shoot.
We just see the back of the bartender.
Bar patrons.
The puppeteers. You will recognize most of them.

The technical side of the production was made possible by a group of Steve's friends in the video business.

A very enjoyable group of puppeteers and video craftsmen.

The final framing of the video, where Hoppy delivers his line to the grouchy bar patron who is apparently annoyed to be spoken to by a rabbit.
There were several takes and occasional breaks to review. Really fun to see it on the screen for the first time.
The puppets and their puppeteers.
